Getting a Toller, or any dog for that matter, is a serious matter and should not be taken lightly. The Toller is a fabulous dog but one thing they're not, is a couch potato. Here are some things you should do before getting a Toller, especially if this is your first one.

1. Join the Toller-L mailing list and talk to other owners.
2. Buy the book "The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever". It's a great source of information and a very good read.
3. Visit some shows in your area where Tollers will be. Take a good look at the dogs and talk to some owners.
